Gaza vs Gully: Kartel and Mavado back on one stage
Eighteen years after they turned Sting into the most argued-over night in dancehall, Vybz Kartel and Mavado are running the same billing as a tour: Jamaica in July, the O2 on 9 September, Malta the weekend after.

Eighteen years
The clash at Sting 2008 — Boxing Day night at Jamworld, Portmore — is still the reference point every dancehall argument goes back to. It split the music into camps, ran for years, and for most of the time since it has been the one booking nobody could make happen.
What is on the road in 2026 is not a rematch. Both men are selling it as a celebration. Two catalogues, one stage, the rivalry used as the show's shape rather than its point.
The run so far
- 18 Jul 2026
A Taste of Reggae Sumfest, Plantation Cove, St Ann. Reported at more than 35,000 people for a 90-minute set. - 9 Sep 2026
The O2, London. Their first time on a stage together in 18 years. - 10–13 Sep 2026
Freedom Street Europe, Ta' Qali Concert Area, Malta. Four days, with back-to-back showdown nights closing it out.
North American dates in New York, Toronto and Montreal have been talked about since the tour was announced, but nothing is on sale yet. Treat anything you see before an official on-sale as rumour.
What the O2 actually was
They walked out to the Anger Management riddim, which told you straight away how the night was going to be framed, then went deep into both catalogues: Real McKoy, Broad Daylight, So Special, Gangsta for Life, Nuh Fraid, Set Fi Mi Army, Real Badman and Nuh Bleach Wid Cream.
Digga D, Chip and DJ Khaled came out across the night, and the two performed Hype Life, their collaboration from Kartel's God and Time.
Half the setlist is 2006–2009 material, which is the stretch most libraries are thinnest on.
